Laggan cottage where art and nature meet

This is a lovely, exquisite property - elegant in an understated way. Our family group of 7 had a wonderful time here - and hope to be back for even more relaxation, communing and savoring the outdoors - in the future

Please do not stay here. We had a very uncomfortable and distressing 4 night stay terrible time. Whilst it is beautiful design wise - the building is infested with flies. When we arrived at the property and opened the windows - literally hundreds of flies spilled from each window where they shelter in the gaps window frames and into the rooms in question. It was distressing, and unhygienic to say the least. The flies were blue bottle flies so feed on faeces and carrion. They then infested every room in the house if you opened the windows. We are not talking a few flies, we are talking an hundreds and hundreds of them that would swarm in when you opened the window and fall/land on the beds, us, belongings. It was really distressing to experience and traumatised our children and elderly parents. They only what tore Reid of them as then to spray fly killer (which the house had lots of and so were fully aware of the issue). Then hoover the dead flies up. We the. Had to close the windows, and stay inside in the hot house breathing on the pesticides. We informed the manager of the house who merely sent a cleaner who admitted it was a problem she did not know how to fix and that it upset her too. She was lovely and clearly sorry for what we had to experience. She was also clearly traumatised herself by the level of the issue and said when she cleaned them out, within hours they would be back and that it was not possible to open the windows in hot weather. Which is what we had. Renting a premium property for over £1000 per night in the highlands of Scotland (where we go to experience the mountain air) with a severe pest infestation the owners/management were clearly aware of, meaning were not able to open the windows, in the midst of summer to and thus had to swelter inside is not ok. We had little sleep. Neither is it ok that we spent much of our precious time there having to clean and sanitise due to the infestation or have allergies triggered due to the pesticides we had to spray or having to comfort our child who was traumas when he opened a window to have literally 100s and 100s of flies swarm all over him, leaving him distressed and with nightmares and wanting to go home. All the money spent on design - the least they could do is install bug nets on the windows ? Or not let the property in the height of summer which is when we were told the infestation is worse, but is also when you need to open the windows most! This property shouldn’t be let until this issue is resolved. The owners should not be profiting from the discomfort and distress of others. It is shameful.

Beautifully appointed house with luxurious finishes. Each window frames the views and the gentle sound of the stream and bleeding sheep complete a perfect picture. We loved sitting outside during the long summer nights and lighting a fire when it cooled. Stemware, dishes and even the light switches are carefully considered. Cannot wait to return.

Positive: The house was beautiful and comfortable. Spacious for 7 adults. Negative: We would have liked more comfy throw blankets to use in the sitting room with the fireplace.
